A new perspective on wine tourism

ABOUT

The Iter Vitis network are cultural routes of the Council of Europe aiming to safeguard and acquaint travellers with local wine heritage while taking them through ancient villages and stunning landscapes. It gives the possibility to travel along ancient vineyards, beautiful landscapes, ancient villages, monuments and wine territories. Currently, four wine routes are being marked out in Azerbaijan, linking tourist-friendly wineries across all wine regions.

 

In early 2020, the European Institute of Cultural Routes and the Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) teamed up to establish the Iter Vitis Caucasus Wine Route, which will be a network of wine routes criss-crossing Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russia.

In 2021, the Council of Europe and the European Institute of Cultural Routes awarded prizes for the wine production heritage route Iter Vitis, where Azerbaijan Tourism Board was given the Best Cross-Border Wine Tourism Product award. 

 

In its 5th edition of the Cultural Route of the Council of Europe award, Azerbaijan Tourism Board received the Best Emerging Wine Tourism Product award in the framework of the Iter Vitis Awards 2022.
